Field Service Scheduling & dispatch

Scheduling and dispatch
for trades shops.

Field Service puts every job on a day board per tech, a week view you rearrange by dragging, and a map. Send a crew, run a job over several days, keep an on-call rota for after-hours emergencies, and let maintenance plans add their own visits. Customers get a reminder the day before and a heads-up when the tech is on the way.

Example Field Service week view: three technicians across Monday to Wednesday, with an unscheduled job waiting to be dragged onto the board.

01 / The schedule

How do you schedule jobs in Field Service?

Jobs start unscheduled, from an approved quote, a booking, a request or a plan. The office puts them on a tech's day, and moves them later by dragging them between techs and days on the week view.

Day

A lane per tech

Each tech's jobs for the day in time order, with unscheduled work to the side, ready to place.

Week

Drag to reschedule

Move a job to another tech or another day by dragging it on the week view.

Map

See the day on a map

The day's jobs plotted by address, so you can send the nearest tech.

Crews

More than one tech

Put a crew on a job, and spread big jobs like a repipe or a panel upgrade over several days.

Priority

Urgent and emergency

Mark a job urgent or emergency, and emergencies sort to the top of the board.

Callbacks

Callbacks and warranty

Open a callback from the original job, so it's tracked against the tech who did the work.

02 / On call

What happens when an emergency comes in after hours?

Set your business hours and add on-call shifts. When an emergency is booked, Field Service alerts the office during business hours, and whoever is on call outside them. With nobody on call, the owners are told. Customers can flag an emergency themselves when they ask for service from the portal.

03 / Maintenance plans

How do repeating maintenance visits work?

Start a repeating plan from a customer's page: the address, how often, the services on each visit, a tech and an optional time. Field Service adds each visit to the schedule as a job a few days ahead. With a time, it goes straight on the board; without one, it waits for the office to place it. Pause or end a plan any time.

A membership can include maintenance visits too, and bills the customer monthly or yearly with a member discount on other work.

Scheduling FAQ

Questions about scheduling.

Can techs see their schedule on their phone?+

Yes. Techs sign in to Field Service in their phone's browser and see their jobs. A native phone app is planned but not available yet.

Do customers get reminded about visits?+

Yes. Customers get a reminder the day before a visit and a notice when the tech is on the way. Both go by email today; once texts are switched on, customers who agree to texts get them by text instead.

Can customers book their own appointments?+

Yes. Your online booking page lets a customer pick a service and an open time, and they get an email confirmation. Requests from your website form wait in the unscheduled list for the office.

Can one job take more than one day?+

Yes. A job can run over several days and have a crew of more than one tech.
